  • WMR July 21-22, 2011 -- Ex-IDF officers sell weapons to Iran, North Korea, Zimbabwe  ...   Informed sources have revealed to WMR that ex-Israeli Defense Force (IDF) officers who have retired at the rank of colonel and above are using their "security" companies to sell weapons and other military systems to Iran, North Korea, and Zimbabwe, among other countries. In the case of Iran, this Israeli trade in weapons violates embargoes that have been imposed by the United States and the European Union on countries like Iran.    ...   Although the smuggling of arms by the Israelis is done by private companies, giving the Israeli government plausible deniability of involvement in the operation, every IDF officer at the rank of colonel and above is given, as a retirement perk, a general license to export weapons from Israel without questions being asked.    ...   In June, Egyptian police seized a shipment of arms from "Palestinians" in Gaza to Sinai. The smuggling ring was said to be based in the Egyptian port of El-Arish. Among the contraband seized were Israeli Uzis, U.S. M-16s, ammunition, night-vision goggles, and body armor.    ...    In 2002, the Israeli-owned and Panamanian-flagged vessel "Zim Antwerp" was intercepted by German customs authorities in Hamburg. The ship was to transfer its cargo to a Malaysian-flagged ship in Hamburg. The cargo, stated by the shipping company to be rubber gaskets for armored personnel carriers in Thailand, a declaration affirmed by the Israeli Ministry of Defense, was actually bound for Iran aboard the Malaysian-flagged ship, which was reportedly owned by Iran.    ...   The Zim Antwerp had been contracted by the Israeli company PIAD headed by Avichai Weinstein. Weinstein and his former business partner Eli Cohen were questioned by Israeli police. German authorities impounded the military cargo in Hamburg. The Israeli government granted the export license for the military cargo with only a cursory glance.    ...   In 1997, Jerusalem businessman Nahum Manbar was convicted for selling nerve and mustard gas precursor chemicals to Iran via his Mana Investments International company and Iranian intermediaries in Vienna. Manbar was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Manbar contended that the sale of nerve and mustard gas components, including chemicals for the production of deadly sarin nerve gas, was done with the full knowledge of the Mossad. It was alleged at the time of Manbar's trial that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu contacted the trial judge, Amnon Straschnov, to lobby for a harsh sentence for Manbar to ensure his silence. In addition, it was reported that one of Manbar's defense attorneys, Pninat Yanai, was placed on the team to keep tabs on what information the defense team had in order to pass it along to Mossad and Netanyahu. Yanai was also accused of conducting a sexual affair with Judge Straschnov at the time of the closed-door trial. Manbar's appeals and parole requests have been repeatedly denied. Manbar's last request for parole was rejected in 2008 after reported heavy pressure from Netanyahu.    ...    In 2002, an Israeli company sold riot control vehicles to Zimbabwe. Israeli firms have also reportedly been involved in exporting AK-47s from Burma that are manufactured by a North Korean-owned factory in the north of Burma to insurgent groups in Asia and elsewhere.     ...    We have also learned that one of the reasons the United States had Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout extradited from Thailand to New York is to help Israel cover up Bout's close links to Vadim Rabinovich, a Ukrainian-Israeli businessman, who was accused of smuggling weapons to the Taliban during the Ukrainian presidency of Leonid Kuchma. Rabinovich is a media and metallurgy industry tycoon in Ukraine.     ...     In 1995, Rabinovich attended a top-dollar Bill Clinton presidential re-election campaign fundraiser in Miami at which Hillary Clinton and Al Gore were present. At the time, Rabinovich was reported to be using Bout's aircraft operations in the United Arab Emirates to ship weapons to the Taliban, weapons that also found their way to Osama Bin Laden's "Al Qaeda" forces in Afghanistan. Rabinovich, who was stripped of his Ukrainian citizenship in 1999 and fled to Israel, had his citizeship in Ukraine restored. Rabinvoch is the president of the All-Ukraine Jewish Congress, funds the Ukrainian Green Party, and is a major funder of Jewish organizations in Israel.    ...   WMR has learned from a source close to the Serious Fraud Office in the United Kingdom that almost every major and minor weapons smuggling operation in the world today involves Israelis.

NRA Hit List         top
Here is the list from the NRA Institute for Legislative Action web site.

National Organizations With Anti-Gun Policies

"The following organizations have lent monetary, grassroots or some other type of direct support to anti-gun organizations. In many instances, these organizations lent their name in support of specific campaigns to pass anti-gun legislation such as the March 1995 HCI "Campaign to Protect Sane Gun Laws." Many of these organizations were listed as "Campaign Partners," for having pledged to fight any efforts to repeal the Brady Act and the Clinton "assault weapons" ban. All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions. "
