Claudia Wilkin ruled for the plaintiffs -- Center for Biological Diversity, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Greenpeace -- on all issues in finding that the Bush administration violated the law by missing the deadline for a final polar bear decision by nearly four months. The court order, issued April 28, requires the administration to publish a final decision in the Federal Register by May 15, and for the decision to take effect immediately. This decision is the result of a petition by the groups, initially submitted in 2005, to list the polar bear under the Endangered Species Act."
  • Prison Planet Japanese member of Parliament Yukihisa Fujita told the Alex Jones Show yesterday that a potential new investigation of the 9/11 cover-up could be led by global parliamentarians he has been in contact with, or even by the United Nations itself. Fujita, an MP for the Japanese Democratic Party, and a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet (national legislature), presented evidence which contradicted the official 9/11 story during a widely publicized Japanese Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee meeting in January of this year.  Following Fujita's presentation in the Japanese Diet, he also took part in a 9/11 truth conference at the EU Parliament in Brussels on February 26th which was hosted by Italian MEP Giullietto Chiesa (both presentations can be viewed at the end of this article).

  • MSNBC GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba - The Defense Department's former chief prosecutor for terrorism cases appeared Monday at the controversial U.S. detention facility here to argue on behalf of a terrorism suspect that the military justice system has been corrupted by politics and inappropriate influence from senior Pentagon officials. Sitting just feet from the courtroom table where he had once planned to make cases against military detainees, Air Force Col. Morris Davis instead took the witness stand to declare under oath that he felt undue pressure to hurry cases along so that the Bush administration could claim before political elections that the system was working.  His testimony in a small, windowless room -- as a witness for Salim Ahmed Hamdan, an alleged driver for Osama bin Laden -- offered a harsh insider's critique of how senior political officials have allegedly influenced the system created to try suspected terrorists outside existing military and civilian courts." • WMR comment:  "More bombshells were lobbed in the Antoin "Tony" Rezko trial even before the jury was seated this morning and they involved a purported attempt to pull strings with the White House to fire U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald. In a hearing before court began, prosecutors said they hoped to call Ali Ata, the former Blagojevich administration official who pleaded guilty to corruption yesterday, to the stand. ... Assistant U.S. Atty. Carrie Hamilton said she believed Ata would testify to conversations Ata had with his political patron, Rezko, about working to pull strings to kill the criminal investigation into Rezko and others when it was in its early stages in 2004. ... • New York  The FBI arrested a New Jersey man for allegedly spying for Israel by stealing military secrets including technology for the "Patriot Defense" system as well as fighter jet technology, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.  Ben-Ami Kadish is set to be arraigned on the espionage charges in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.  Investigators said Kadish stole secrets from the Picatinny Arsenal in Dover from 1979 through 1985.  Kadish allegedly smuggled documents from the base to his home. Court documents said an Israeli agent would then travel to the residence and "take photographs of the classified documents in the basement of the residence. The next morning, Kadish would take the classified documents back to the Arsenal and return them to the library,” the complaint said.  A woman who answered the phone at Kadish's home declined to comment on the charges.  Court papers suggest some of the confidential documents also contained information about nuclear technology and F-15's. The criminal complaint suggests Kadish made statements about having taken the documents because they had "a direct correlation to Israel's security."

  • Washington Times  Mrs. Clinton said the liberal group — which was formed to help her husband fight off impeachment but now backs the presidential candidacy of her rival, Sen. Barack Obama — had "flooded" party caucuses and tried to "intimidate" her supporters.  Activists wrote on the Internet that Mrs. Clinton has alienated a key part of the Democratic base in advance of Tuesday's make-or-break Pennsylvania primary, though new national polls suggest she is experiencing a rebound among primary voters after trailing Mr. Obama for weeks.  In her remarks to donors in February, Mrs. Clinton falsely said MoveOn had opposed the war in Afghanistan and said she disagrees with the group's foreign-policy stance even though she courted its endorsement."

  • Yahoo  Iran Opec  (AP) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is urging OPEC members to form a joint bank and stop pricing oil trades in U.S. dollars. According to the Iranian government's Web site, Ahmadinejad told OPEC Secretary General Abdalla Salem el-Badri the cartel "should establish a joint bank as well as having joint currency."  Oil is priced in U.S. dollars on the world market, and the currency's depreciation has concerned producers because it has contributed to rising crude prices and eroded the value of their dollar reserves.  Iran has repeatedly urged OPEC members to shift sales away from dollar. But Iran's proposal to trade oil in a basket of currencies is not supported by enough OPEC members, which include staunch U.S. allies such as leading producer Saudi Arabia.

  • Apr 3, 2008 Wayne Madsen, Subscriber story excerpt: COINTELPRO back in operation under different names  From 1956 to 1971, the FBI maintained a program to infiltrate and disrupt groups that they suspected of being subversive to the oligarchical interests that control the United States. In fact, the FBI spent most of its time targeting civil rights and anti-Vietnam War organizations. FBI agents not only spied on targeted organizations but also infiltrated them for purposes of disruption and discrediting.  The Pentagon has announced it is closing down the Counterintelligence Field Activity (CIFA) that targeted anti-war groups in a COINTELPRO-like campaign.  WMR has learned from knowledgeable sources that the Bush administration's COINTELPRO activities extend far beyond the Pentagon and include domestic operations being conducted by CIA, FBI, and other intelligence and law enforcement agencies.  search terms:  COINTELPRO c.ones, targeting Barrack Obama, Sarah, and Obama Sr.,  DIA, Defense Intelligence Agency,  Theresa Heinz Kerry, Pretoria, South Africa, US Ambassador Jendayi Frazer, Col. • WMR "Luskin is currently trying to protect Rove from a congressional probe into Rove's back room deals in selectively and falsely getting US attorneys in Alabama to indict Siegelman. It was none other than Bill Clinton who recommended Bush family "clean up" man David Laufman to represent and influence the key witness against Rove, Alabama attorney and former GOP opposition research specialist Dana Jill Simpson.  ...  On September 14, 2007, WMR reported: "Simpson, WMR has learned from knowledgeable sources, asked about having a Washington attorney represent her pro bono in a series of meetings with congressional committee, she was offered the services of Laufman by principals close to the Siegelman defense. Parties involved with Siegelman's defense claimed that Laufman was recommended by President Bill Clinton." • Oped News  " The Coming False Flag to Justify War on Iran  ...  Former Wall Street Journal Editor and business columnist Paul Craig Roberts, also known as the Father of Reaganomics, lays out some explosive and terrifying possibilities in his latest article, Secret Schemes and Undeclared Agendas.  Roberts' article becomes even more urgent to ponder now. Why? Since his article warning of a coming false flag attack to justify a US attack on Iran came out, several disturbing dominoes have fallen.  1) Admiral Fallon who was the highest ranking military man to refuse to attack Iran . . . suddenly resigns under pressure.  2) A US nuclear submarine just entered the Persian Gulf, and 3) General Patreaus just blamed the last attack on the Green Zone in Iraq . . . on the Iranians. • Mar 30, 2008 Lew Rockwell  "Terrible rumors from Russia continue to swirl around the Middle East that the Cheney-Bush junta has decided to bomb Iran on April 4th or 6th, targeting not only nuclear-power research facilities but ships, planes, antiaircraft installations, and the Iranian pentagon. Apparently the nuclear-power reactor being built by Russian companies will be spared, but not much else. Will it happen? Certainly the neocon hate network is working overtime to make it so. Bush fired the anti-neocon Admiral Fallon. One thing we know for sure: it will be the typical Bush administration snafu, with horrific consequences for the region and the world, not to speak of the Iranian people, and reap much trouble for the US empire. Indeed, it could mark the end of the empire if, as Bill Lind worries, the Iranians in retaliation cut off water-food-ammo supply routes to US troops in Iraq, and, with the help of Shiite militiants, capture large numbers of them. Need I mention that Ron Paul, our champion of peace, is the leading opponent of war on Iran?     Iran

The disease is named after Blackwater Worldwide, the U.S. mercenary company operating in Iraq. "It is one of the complications of that infection, and not the ordinary picture of the disease. Because of its frequent and severe complications, such as Blackwater fever, and its resistance to treatment, P. falciparum can cause death within 24 hours." .... UH-1 Huey helicopter battery packs and shipped to Taiwan were Minuteman III nuclear nose cone fuse assemblies,  all this linked to 2007 Minot Barksdale nuclear transfer incident, Cheney,  and 'the plan'  ... In July 2007, there were a series of incidents at Minot Air Force Base that point to the breakdown in command and control over the U.S. nuclear arsenal. WMR has obtained previously "sealed" documentation that there was a "plan" afoot by at least four personnel at Minot, two including 91st Security Forces Group military security personnel charged with guarding Minot's Minuteman III silos, that involved the warehousing of military equipment, including flash bang and smoke grenades, battlefield trauma kits, gas masks, and chemical gloves, off base for an unknown operation. The 91st SFG is the largest military police group at Minot. The other major security force at Minot is the 5th Security Forces Squadron, the group that was charged with protecting the nuclear warheads that were placed on the B-52 during the 2007 Labor Day weekend. .... Minot's Office of Special Investigations officially placed a "gag order" on any discussion about the "plan" by Air Force nuclear security personnel with outside personnel, including North Dakota law enforcement officers. • CNN KPMG improper accounting practices Michael J. Missal concluded that New Century engaged in at least seven improper accounting practices that led the company to report incorrect financial information to Wall Street for fiscal 2005 and the first nine months of 2006.  Missal also found that senior management at the Irvine, Calif.-based lender failed to take appropriate steps to manage rising risks caused by the company's aggressive approach to originating loans, often to borrowers who couldn't afford them.  "New Century had a brazen obsession with increasing loan originations, without due regard to the risks associated with that business strategy," Missal's report said. "The increasingly risky nature of New Century's loan originations created a ticking time bomb that detonated in 2007."  In addition, the examiner found that New Century's accounting firm, KPMG LLC, enabled some of the improper accounting practices to continue.   and Law.com

  • Harretz CIA Mossad plans against Iran, Risen, Risen has been asked to testify as part of an investigation aimed at revealing who leaked apparently confidential information about the planning of secret Central Intelligence Agency and Mossad missions concerning Iran's nuclear program.   ...  Risen included this information in his book, "State of War: The Secret History of the CIA and the Bush Administration," which was published in 2006. In the book, he discusses a number of ideas which he says were thought up jointly by CIA and Mossad operatives to sabotage Iran's nuclear capabilities.  ...  One of these ideas was to build electromagnetic devices, smuggling them inside Iran to sabotage electricity lines leading to the country's central nuclear sites. According to the plan, the operation was supposed to cause a series of chain reactions which would damage extremely powerful short circuits in the electrical supply that would have led to failures of the super computers of Iran's nuclear sites.  ...  Another of the book's important revelations, which made the administration's blood boil about James Risen, appeared in a chapter describing what was known as Operation Merlin, the code name for another CIA operation supposed to penetrate the heart of Iran's nuclear activity, collect information about it and eventually disrupt it.  ...  The scientist was equipped with blueprints for assembling a nuclear bomb in which, without his knowledge, false drawings and information blueprints were planted about a nuclear warhead that was supposedly manufactured in the Soviet Union. The plan's details had been fabricated by CIA experts, and so while they appeared authentic, they had no engineering or technological value.  The intention was to fool the scientist and send him to make contact with the Iranians to whom he would offer his services and blueprints. The American plot was aimed at getting the Iranians to invest a great deal of effort in studying the plans and to attempt to assemble a faulty warhead. But when the time came, they would not have a nuclear bomb but rather a dud.  However, Operation Merlin, which was so creative and original, failed because of CIA bungled planning. The false information inserted into the blueprints were too obvious and too easily detected and the Russian engineer discovered them. As planned, he made contact with the Iranian delegation to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna and handed over to them, also as planned, the blueprints. go to IRAN page

  • Feb 26, 2008 ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A tiny Alaska village eroding into the Arctic Ocean sued two dozen oil, power and coal companies Tuesday, claiming that the large amounts of greenhouse gases they emit contribute to global warming that threatens the community's existence.  The city of Kivalina and a federally recognized tribe, the Alaska Native village of Kivalina, sued Exxon Mobil Corporation, eight other oil companies, 14 power companies and one coal company in a lawsuit filed in federal court in San Francisco.  Kivalina is a traditional Inupiat Eskimo village of about 390 people about 625 miles (1005 km) northwest of Anchorage. It's built on an 8-mile (13-km) barrier reef between the Chukchi Sea and Kivalina River.  Sea ice traditionally protected the community, whose economy is based in part on salmon fishing plus subsistence hunting of whale, seal, walrus, and caribou. But sea ice that forms later and melts sooner because of higher temperatures has left the community unprotected from fall and winter storm waves and surges that lash coastal communities.  "We are seeing accelerated erosion because of the loss of sea ice," City Administrator Janet Mitchell said in a statement. "We normally have ice starting in October, but now we have open water even into December so our island is not protected from the storms."  Relocation costs have been estimated at $400 million or more.
  • Feb 21, 2008  WMR has learned from UN sources that the 19th Floor from which UN employee Maria DiBiase plunged to her death in the early morning of February 17, houses the Department of Peace-keeping Operations/Field Administration and Logistics Division (DPKO/FALD). The offices also house the code machines used for the encrypted fax machines used for DPKO activities in addition to a spare set of code machines used for DPKO rapid response teams.  DiBiase, an Austrian national, was a computer specialist for the UN and a former Conference Services staff member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria.  WMR has learned that the UN Special Commission (UNSCOM) maintained in a special UN's computer database all the files on Sadaam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction program retrieved from compact disks provided to UNSCOM by Saddam's government prior to the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The database is said to include all the black market nuclear suppliers involved in providing materials to Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, and Libya via Turkey and the A Q Khan smuggling network. The list reportedly includes front companies in Switzerland linked to Marc Rich, the American fugitive pardoned by President Clinton, and Dick Cheney.  DiBiase is said to have arrived at work Sunday morning to finish a project that was due on Monday morning. WMR has been told that there may have been a "black bag" operation taking place on the 19th floor at the same time DiBiase arrived at work.  The UNSCOM files reportedly validate much of former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds' recent claims on nuclear smuggling that appeared in the London Sunday Times.   see Clinton / Bush Death List Body count

Libby jotted down in the margin the orders he received from Cheney to "get agency to answer that."  Libby subsequently made a number of inquiries to senior State Department and CIA officials about Wilson and an agency-sponsored fact-finding trip he'd made to Africa in 2002.  The top CIA expert on Iraq, Robert Grenier, testified that Libby had him pulled out of a meeting with then-CIA Director George J. Tenet to discuss the issue in a phone call.  Former State Department Undersecretary Marc Grossman said he also felt a sense of urgency when Libby called him, after which he promptly commissioned an internal intelligence analysis.  Grenier and Grossman each testified that he promptly reported back to Libby with information about Wilson and the trip — and the fact that Wilson's wife was a CIA employee.  After Wilson went public with his criticism in a July 6 op-ed in the New York Times, saying he'd found no evidence of Iraq seeking nuclear material in Niger, Libby promptly passed on information about Wilson's wife, prosecutors allege.  Then-White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer has testified that the day after the op-ed appeared, Libby offered the information to him "on the q.t." over lunch at the White House mess. Miller testified that Libby talked about Wilson's wife the next day, a Tuesday.  Libby told the grand jury that he did not learn Plame's identity until the following Thursday, July 10, in a conversation with journalist Tim Russert, the moderator of the NBC's "Meet the Press."
